Make a Sweetheart Pincushion with the Sewing Soldier at Ely Cathedral this month.
The Sewing Soldier Lt Col Neil Stace (Great British Sewing Bee finalist) will be holding a series of family sewing workshops as part of the 100 hearts for 100 years exhibition.
The exhibition is in commemoration of the Great War, one heart is made for each year since the war ended in 1918. The hearts were originally made by wounded soldiers so that they could be sent home to loved ones, it acted as an effective form of therapy for the soldiers as the war was very traumatic.
The event is on February 12 and 13 and more sessions will be available until February 28. Family tickets can be purchased in person or via the box office on 660349. Tickets cost £5 and allow up to four people entry to the event, the venue is Powcher’s Hall.
