LYN of Littleport: It's time to book tickets for the Christmas panto
PUBLISHED: 11:14 26 September 2017
Whether young, old or in-between, Littleport has something for you.
And if it’s harvest and harvest festival time - it must be time to book for the Littleport Christmas Panto.
This year’s presentation for all ages, by the talented Littleport Players, with superb costumes by Sheila Goodall, is Peter Pan.
There are four shows in December: Friday 8 and Saturday 9 in the evening, and two matinees, on Saturday and Sunday afternoon.
And you can book online at www.ticketsource.co.uk/littleportplayers or get tickets from Bizzie Lizzie hairdressers on Ponts Hill, or the Bargain Centre in Main Street.
Although Christmas should be especially nice for children, I’d say any time of the year is good to be a child in this village, whether pre-school or school age.
At St George’s there’s a ‘Tea and Tots’ with toys and nursery rhymes for babies and toddlers every Friday morning from 10-11.30am run by Chris and Keith, and Chris provides homemade cakes too.
Terri Reed, a regular, who also helps when she can, including putting on the occasional charity event, like last year’s Christmas jumper day that raised £46, says that it’s a lovely atmosphere.
Sadly, her daughter Millie-Rose lost her knitted bunny rabbit on the way there and, so far, unusually for Littleport, has not got it back.
Emma Grindey, whose daughter Mia lost her favourite pink snail, was reunited with hers through Terri, whose young son had found it, after they put its picture on our Littleport Notice Board, as would normally be expected.
Emma takes her 10-month-old twins to the popular ‘Soft Play’ at the new leisure centre on Wednesday mornings, from 10.30am til 12 noon.
Busy Bees Preschool based at Millfield was grateful to Littleport Grange, that takes care of older people, who allowed the children to explore their grounds’ flora and fauna, while they picked up autumnal twigs, leaves and conkers.
The Millfield Nursery is for children the term after they turn three, from 8am-5.30pm. Phone 01353 861612.
Who doesn’t fondly recall those nature tables of their own early school days. Or the games of conkers - before they became officially dangerous!
Grown-ups are well catered for in Littleport too of course! For a night out this Saturday, the Ex-Servicemen’s Club has Get Back, The Crown has Whiskey Twist and the Plough & Harrow hosts Three Great Shows - with tribute sets to the Rat Pack, Blues Brothers and Elvis.
