Lucky Louise presented with her winnings after entering Ely Standard competition - a cool £500

Not that she will bank this cheque (the cash goes through her bank via more modern technology!) but Louise Bateman was delighted to show off her £500 winnings courtesy of the Ely Standard.

Louise was the lucky winner of a competition run by the Ely Standard that attracted hundreds of entries earlier in the year.

Editor John Elworthy said: “I think Louise was a bit surprised when I called her to say she was our winner.

“I got the feeling she enters several competitions and to get a call at 6pm saying you’ve won such a tidy sum must have been pleasant surprise.”
