THREE young children had a lucky escape on Sunday afternoon when the car they were travelling in careered off the road and landed in ditch on the A10 at Chittering.
The girls, aged three, five and seven, were pulled unhurt from the black Kia car along with the 43-year-old male driver after it was involved in a crash with a white Rover car.
The driver of the Rover suffered severe head injuries and had to be cut free from the wreckage of his car by fire-fighters. He was taken to Cambridge's Addenbrooke's Hospital.
Now Cambridgeshire Police have appealed for witnesses to the crash which happened 400 yards north of the Donarbon Waste Management site at around 4.15pm.
Pc Chris Breeze said: "I would like to speak to anyone travelling on this stretch of road at the time this collision took place.
"Did you see the vehicles leading up to the collision or the collision itself?"
