YOUNGSTERS in East Cambs are to benefit from nearly £100,000 in Lottery funding for arts projects.

Arts Development in East Cambridgeshire (ADeC) has been awarded a grant of £99,150 for youth work in Ely and Littleport.

Project co-ordinator Louise Taylor will work in partnership with a number of youth groups on activities as diverse as street dance and hands-on craft activities.

Ms Taylor said: "Our successful bid will be targeted at a specific group of young people over the age of 11 living in Ely and Littleport, with taster workshops starting in May.

"We will be bringing artists and practitioners together with young people in their own space such as their local youth club."

She said the young people involved will shape the programme, deciding which artists or dancers they want to work with, and in the longer term, the planning and delivery of the project.
