A LORRY carrying a heavy load of limestone overturned on a busy road near Ely on Monday night.
The large articulated vehicle was travelling along Queen Adelaide Way near the A142 at around 3pm when it overturned spilling its load of limestone into a roadside field.
Police and ambulance crews rushed to the scene and the road was immediately closed by officers as a recovery operation commenced. The driver of the vehicle suffered only minor injuries and was treated at the scene.
After recovering the vehicle, police checked the area, which is a Site of Special Scientific Interest, for any spilled diesel before re-opening the road again at around 9pm.
