STANDEN Engineering said farewell to long-serving Les Ashly this week, the Ely resident having clocked up more than 40 years with the company.
Les, 65, started life at the firm, in Ely, in 1972 as an assembly operator and took on several different roles throughout his time with the company before ending up an operator again in his final few years.
Les, who lives in Mayfield Close, was taken out to lunch by colleagues on his final day and presented with a collection.
He is one of more than 10 employees at the firm who have racked up 40 or more years of service. Les will be spending more time out fishing in his retirement.
Standen director Owen Blake said: “Les enjoyed a lunch with colleagues and a presentation before clocking off for the last time.”
