A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with the death of Peter Anderson in Cambridge.

The 17-year-old man from London was arrested in Cambridge and has been taken into custody at Parkside Police Station.

Mr Anderson, 46, died from stab wounds after being attacked in broad daylight on Stourbridge Common at about 4.15pm on July 25.

A Cambridgeshire Police spokesman said: “The man arrested has not been arrested before in connection with this investigation.”

Police investigating the murder have made a direct appeal for a group of teenagers who tried to help him to come forward.

A post mortem concluded he died of stab wounds.

A week on from his death, officers have urged witnesses to get in touch - including a small group of teenagers who raised the alarm by alerting others on the common that Mr Anderson was badly injured.

Detectives will be returning to the common to hand out leaflets to members of the public and are urging anyone who was in the area at the time, particularly those young people who tried to help Mr Anderson, to come forward.
