A WOMAN found in possession of a stolen television and illegal drugs at her Littleport home has been given an electronic curfew order.

For the next three months Lisa Riches will wear a tag, and must be at home every night between 8pm and 7am the following morning.

Riches, 38, of Wisbech Road, was sentenced by Ely magistrates on Thursday, after they heard that she now has a prescription for the heroin substitute methadone.

Police found the stolen 32-inch flat screen TV at Riches' home when the property was raided on March 14, said prosecutor Laura Mardell. Riches denied receiving the £400 set that was stolen in a burglary at Littleport, but was found guilty at a trial last month.

"She was looking for a television, and was contacted by friends about an item that was available if she wanted to purchase it," said solicitor Michael Judkins.

Back in May, Riches had admitted possessing 2.6 grams of heroin and 2.9 grams of herbal cannabis, and sentencing was deferred until this week.

"She has numerous previous convictions, regarding her life-long problem with drugs," said Mr Judkins. In the past three months, she has stopped offending, and has been in contact with the Cambridge Drug Intervention Programme, he added.

Riches will be supervised by the probation service for the next 12 months. She must pay £250 costs and forfeit the drugs.
