Next week marks the 30th anniversary of the creation of the Littleport Society – and the group plans to celebrate the landmark in style.

The society is to hold a special meeting at the Village Hall on September 5, featuring a visit from the Hobson’s Voice singers and local novelist John Taylor, who will also launch his latest book.

A Littleport Society spokesman said: “Over the years, the Littleport Society has done so much to reveal and preserve local history for future generations in addition to extensive work on constructing family trees for local and other folks with Littleport connections.

“The society holds an impressive collection of artefacts, photographs, documents and memorabilia relating to the village. One of the most noteworthy achievements is the discovery of the connections to Harley Davidson Motorcycles in the USA, which is commemorated with a fine, life size, motorcycle sculpture in the village.”

The special meeting begins at 7.30pm.
