BUSINESSES, households and community groups celebrated a successful Macmillan Coffee Morning on Friday.
Beryl and helpers in Southery raised an astonishing £2,360 for the cancer charity by extending their coffee morning to include stalls in the village hall, and a bingo night later the same day.
Ely Fire Station raised more than £250 at their annual event, where fire safety advice was handed out alongside the biscuits and cakes.
In Sutton, Anthea and Mike Fox raised £270 at their home in West Lodge Lane with the help of some home-made cakes courtesy of Mike's mum Yvonne.
In Littleport, schoolchildren got in on the act by raising £366 and staff at Budgens in Soham staff put their kettles on too, raising £362.
Last year's coffee morning saw 50,000 people take part nationwide, raising £7.5million for Macmillan. This year the charity hope to hit £8.5million, which will be used to fund the vital work of Macmillan nurses around the country.
