KIND-hearted schoolboy Neo Reynolds raised more than 500 for charity by completing his very own charity swim-a-thon.

The Littleport Community Primary pupil only mastered swimming at the start of the year but was so keen to put his new skills to good use that he arranged to complete as many lengths of the Paradise Pool, in Ely, as he could manage.

In a test event held last month, Neo managed an impressive 48 lengths but, last week, he managed to complete a full mile, smashing his own record.

Two of Neo’s grandparents have been diagnosed with cancer in recent years and the nine-year-old is planning to donate the money to the Oncology Unit, at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, in Cambridge.

Neo’s grandmother Janice Greenfield said: “He learned to swim at the Paradise Centre and has been really keen to do this since then. He lost one grandad to cancer and his other grandad has recently gone into remission.”
