A WOMAN from Littleport has appeared in court after police twice found drugs in her home.

Angela Loveridge, 45, of Millfield, was charged with possessing cannabis on 19 December, when the drug was classified as a Class C substance, and again on 28 January, by which time it had been reclassified as a Class B drug.

Crown prosecutor Laura Mardell told Ely Magistrates on Thursday that small amounts of the herbal form of the drug were found by police executing search warrants.

Miss Mardell said: "Mrs Loveridge admitted in police interviews that the drugs belonged to her and they were for her own personal use."

Loveridge, who pleaded guilty to both charges, was represented in court by solicitor Adam Hazelhurst.

Mr Hazelhurst said in mitigation for his client: "Mrs Loveridge has pleaded guilty at the earliest opportunity and made full admissions to the police. She is not a regular user of cannabis but admits smoking it from time to time."

The magistrates ordered Loveridge to complete 60 hours' unpaid work in the community and to pay 60 court costs.
