SUCH was the demand for places at this year’s Littleport Leisure Centre junior fishing match that organisers were faced with calling it off because they simply couldn’t transport the children to the venue.
Littleport-based Mil-Ken coaches stepped into the breach however, and saved the day for the eager children, offering the use of one of their coaches free of charge.
A record 39 children turned up for the eighth annual fishing event, which takes place at Headfen Fisheries in Pymoor.
But this was too many for the string of helpers, who needed to transport all the children along with the fishing equipment and lunch boxes.
A quick phone call to Mil-Ken Travel turned up trumps though as owner Jason Miller donated of a coach for the event.
Littleport Leisure Centre manager Andy Rutterford, who organises the fishing match, said: “We have a good relationship with Mil-ken and its owners, but this offer was a life saver and we can not thank them enough for their generosity.”
