Members of the Littleport bikers club 363MCC gathered last night to give away shares of £3,000 raised at a recent event.
The money was raised from May’s annual Crowning Around day, a bike festival which is held at The Crown Inn in Main Street - the scene of the 1816 Littleport bread or blood riots.
The East Anglian Air Ambulance received £2,000 whilst The Port youth club and the Littleport Youth Bike initiative were given £500 each.
Mark Robinson, president of the 363MCC, said: “The club honours and fundraises in the memory of the rioters and the five Littleport men who were hanged at Ely.
“We like to continue that caring for our Littleport community, just like the guys so long ago who used to meet to put a bit of money in the pot so they could help each other out during lean times.”
