A FAMILY fun day in Little Thetford helped raise more than £700 for Help for Heroes.

Little Thetford Sports & Social Club hosted the fun day last weekend, with dozens of villagers turning out to enjoy a host of fun and games, a bouncy castle and barbecue.

Proceeds raised on the day came to an impressive £740 which will be presented to the charity by social club chairman Kevin Russell and vice chairman Rob Stead.

On August 31, the social club then organised two fishing matches at Frasers Fisheries in Little Downham to raise money for East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices.

The matches were won by Mario D’Angelo with a weight of more than 22lb. With the lake fees waived by Fraser, a £10 peg fee together with half-time bacon sandwiches, teas coffees and a raffle will raise in excess of £600 for the charity. Milton Golf Club and Pretoria Energy gave generous raffle donations.
