FILMING for a major British film took place at The Carpenter.s Arms in Soham with regulars stepping in to play some cameo roles.

Cast and crew went to the pub, run by Carol Botting and her daughter Toni, for an entire evening of filming.

Staff member Melanie Cook was labelled a natural by the film crew as she pulled pints for the locals and stars.

Even 91-year-old regular Albie Fuller took a theatrical turn.

"Albie got into the film by accident," said Miss Botting.

"He was sitting at his usual spot at the bar having a pint when one of the main actors came up to get served and tripped over his foot. The production team though it was so funny that they left it in."

The film, called Backroads, is scheduled to be released next year.
