CHAMPION Soham fund-raiser, Liam Fairhurst, is being promoted as a positive role model in a national contest supported by the Prime Minister and his wife.

Liam, 12, who won a Young People of the Year (Yopey) award in the summer for raising more than £140,000 while battling cancer, will help to promote the first national version of the competition.

Prime Minister Gordon Brown's wife Sarah will judge the competition, which is aimed at giving young people a fairer image, and he will host a reception at 10 Downing Street for the winners.

The Yopey competition was started in Cambridge two years ago and is being rolled out across the country through a national magazine.
