LETTER: Help make Ely mayor’s charity dreams come true
I am assisting Ely’s Mayor Lis Every in achieving her charity objectives for her mayoral year.
Her objectives are to promote volunteering in Ely, to promote the local Volunteer Centre, increase the capacity of the VC, to make the VC more sustainable, and to help the VC allowing it to purchase much needed equipment, eg mowers etc for the gardening team.
To achieve this the mayor, the Ely Hereward Rotary Club and the Volunteer Centre have come together to raise much needed funds.
The mayor has already raised funds from the recent pantomime and the Mayor’s Ball towards the target of £8,000
Our next event will be on April 15, when the chairman of Cambridge United will talk on what volunteering means to the club, starting at 7pm at St Peter’s Church, Broad Street, Ely.
Tickets are £10, or £5 For under 15s.
On Saturday April 16 the Hereward Rotary Club will organise building a mile of coins on the High Street, and the Volunteer Centre will organise a street collection
