It was a fond farewell to Mr Simms Olde Sweet Shop in Ely after five years of tempting taste buds across the city.
Tears were shed as staff and owner David Learner gathered for an end-of-term photo as the beloved High Street shop closed its doors.
Loyal customers had replied to the RSVP Twitter hashtag of #FlyingHighStreet as they posed for pictures on August 31 before picking up some final treats.
A Facebook post read: “Thank you to everyone who came to see us over five perfect years and to our end-of-term photo shoot. A million happy memories xx”
Customers shared their sadness in the comments and spoke about the sweets they would miss.
Paul Roscoe said: “Sad to see you go. You did a great job - it was always a pleasure going into your shop, the staff were awesome.”
Jayne Newman added: “Missing my coconut tea cakes already.”
Mr Learner said the closure came with “great sadness” and was due to “business rates and fading footfall.”
He called the past five years “truly extraordinary.”
