Residents living in a sheltered scheme in Littleport are enjoying a £1.2m home makeover including new kitchens and bathrooms and a landscaped courtyard.
Beech Court in Parsons Lane is owned by Axiom Housing Association and provides 65 ground, first and second floor flats for vulnerable and elderly people.
As well as new kitchens and bathrooms the refurbishment works include a new communal kitchen and assisted bathroom, electrical upgrades and new lighting to all communal areas and flats.
The main entrance has also been revamped along with all the communal areas which have been freshly painted and fitted with new carpets.
The courtyard has been redeveloped to include landscaped areas and accessible footpaths.
Resident, Elsie Flack, 103, said: “The work team knew their job and they did it so well. They’re welcome back any time for a cup of tea.”
Mayor of Ely Cllr Lis Every and chair of Littleport Parish Council, Cllr Clive Webber, were special guests at an event held to mark the completion of the works.
Alan Lewin, chief executive of Axiom, said: “We’re delighted to see how happy the residents are in their revamped homes.
“Beech Court is now able to fulfil its potential as a scheme that offers both high quality housing and care.”
The refurbishment works were competed by Wisbech-based Foster Property Maintenance and the interior design by Peelmount part of the David Phillips contract company.
David Haynes of Fosters, said: “We were pleased to be able to work on yet another successful scheme refurbishment for Axiom and it’s great to see the positive impact this has had on the residents.”
