HUNDREDS of local ladies swapped their Jimmy Choos for their walking shoes to take part in an all girls' 10-mile night walk around Cambridge in aid of Arthur Rank Hospice.
Jo Rayner from Ely - pictured, first fairy on the right - said: "I wanted to take part in the Star Shine Stroll to give something back to the place that was so supportive and brought me and my family so much happiness at what was such a sad time."
Jo's mother passed away at Arthur Rank House on August 26, 2000.
Lucy Day, fund-raiser for the Arthur Rank Hospice Charity said: "We received such fantastic support from ladies living within the Soham and Ely area - they all seemed to really get into the spirit of things and helped make it such an amazing atmosphere. The hospice depends on support from people living and working within the local community to ensure that Arthur Rank House can continue to provide the vital care and support to patients and their loved ones. We are thankful to all those who supported this wonderful event."
Arthur Rank House works to improve the quality of life of patients and their families whose lives are affected by cancer and other life limiting illnesses. The Charity needs to raise £1m each year to ensure that they can continue to make a difference to lives of people living in our local community.
