Thousands of people were able to admire the work of King’s Ely students at this year’s Knitting and Stitching Show.
Fashion and textiles students from King’s Ely were among specialist craft exhibitors who showcased their intricate designs at the event at London’s Alexandra Palace from October 11 to 14.
Director of Art at King’s Ely Senior, Alison Rhodes, said: “This is a unique opportunity for our students to build links with industry.
“Over the forthcoming weeks, fashion designer José Hendo will be sharing her expertise with our A Level Textiles students working with the material ‘barkcloth’ which derives from the Bukomansimbi district of Southern Uganda. Barkcloth was proclaimed by UNESCO as part of the world’s ‘Intangible Cultural heritage of Humanity’ in 2005.
“Many parents and students visited our exhibition at Alexandra Palace and it really was a great celebration of our school and department.”
