FIVE Ely teenagers have been named as among the top young mathematicians in the country.
King's School pupils, Chloe Crowther, Jonathan Moore, Kyoichi Aizawa and King's International Study Centre students Vince Deng and Ryan Liu did so well that they were among the top 400 invited to take part in the 'Maths Olympiad'.
They were chosen after joining 200,000 youngsters nationwide in February to sit the Intermediate Mathematical Challenge.
Ryan achieved a certificate of distinction and a gold medal which puts him in the top 100 nationally.
Chloe, Jonathan, Kyoichi and Vince received certificates of merit which putting them in the top 200.
Steve Cavill, head of maths at King's, said: "To get five qualifiers for the Olympiad in one year is phenomenal. If this were football they would have the Chelsea and Manchester United selectors knocking on their doors!
