Authors share their expertise at King’s Ely Acremont and Junior Book Week
Author visits, dress-up days and storytelling sessions were among the highlights of King’s Ely Acremont and King’s Ely Junior’s Book Week.
The week included visits from authors Saci Lloyd, Pippa Goodhart and Mark Lowery. Pippa, who has had more than 40 children’s books published, read stories and talked to pupils about the importance of reading.
Mark, whose books include Socks Are Not Enough and The Jam Doughnut That Ruined My Life, visited King’s Ely Junior to work with pupils in Years 3 to 6. He spoke about some of the techniques he uses to help him write before challenging the students to write their own story introductions.
Saci, whose novels include The Carbon Diaries series, read passages from her books, talked about her career and ran a workshop where students created stories around the theme of science with robots.
The celebrations also included a dress-up day at King’s Ely Acremont, Annabel Reddick from Burrows Bookshop stopping by to read stories and visits to Ely Library, Topping and Company Booksellers and King’s Ely’s Porta Library.
