Budding actors and actresses at King’s Ely Junior wowed audiences with their thought-provoking production of The Railway Children.
After months of planning and rehearsals, Year 7 and 8 pupils took to the stage at King’s Ely’s Hayward Theatre on the evenings of November 22 and 23.
More than 200 people attended the performances and director of drama and Theatre at King’s Ely, Nick Huntington, was delighted with the production.
He said: “The Railway Children is a fantastic play with many challenging themes and I was so proud to see our Year 7 and 8 pupils tackle these with such commitment and enthusiasm.
“Both those onstage and our backstage student team did an excellent job and our audiences really enjoyed the production, even if it did move them to tears at times!”
The performance was also praised by local actor, David Learner, best know for his role in the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.
He said: “The evening was over far too soon and the generosity of the applause showed that none had been left wanting. Not just a great effort: a great achievement of which cast, stage crew and production staff can all be rightly and justifiably proud.”
