King’s Ely biology students were medal-mad when they entered the annual biology olympiad competition.
The yearly competition, which features a gruelling two hour online paper, pits budding biologists against one another, with 5,000 students being predicated A or A* grades in their A Levels.
Ely’s Eris Guo, Ellen Dart and James Walton were all highly commended, and Panupong Pornsirianant, Aleksander Kasprzak and Phoebe Penning bagged bronze medals.
However, the real stars were Rosamund van Wingerden and Paul Daehn, who were awarded gold medals having been placed in the top one per cent in the country.
Rosamund and Paul progressed into the next round of the competition, and the duo could eventually represent Great Britain at the International Biology Olympiad, which takes place in Hanoi, Vietnam in July 2016.
