LOCAL children performed the ribbon-cutting ceremony when the new-look Co-op food store opened in Isleham.

Youngsters from the Isleham Under Fives Association were given a donation of £200 for school funds by store manager Ray Goodwin to mark the occasion. The association is raising money for a new building and the donation will be added to that fund.

"As a community retailer it is appropriate that we involve the community in our special events and we were delighted that the children's group could play a central role in the relaunch of the store," said Mr Goodwin.

The community store has been updated with modern décor, new fittings and eco friendly refrigeration plus a more shopper friendly layout. The emphasis will be on chilled and fresh foods and there will be a greater selection of chilled beers and wines.

"We provide a much valued service for the local community and I am confident our shoppers will be delighted with our improved store and wider selection of goods which will better meet all the community's daily grocery needs," added Mr Goodwin.
