A LITTLEPORT woman who has been running for little more than a year will take on the mammoth challenge of the London Marathon this year.

Kerry Giles-Brown is determined to complete the run in honour of her late mother-in-law and her Godmother, and she will raise money for the Arthur Rank Hospice in Cambridge.

Kerry's friend Amanda Dodman, said: "Kerry has always wanted to take part in the London Marathon.

"But to be able to, £1000 must be raised."

A series of events has been organised at Littleport Leisure Centre, including a disco on February 17, which has already sold out.

There will also be a race night on February 3, a quiz on April 22 and Littleport Bowls Club will host a bingo evening on March 20. Tickets are still available for all three.

A number of local businesses have agreed to sponsor the events, including Victoria Tyres, Balloons Galore, Henry Mann, Gem Tyres, and Littleport disco CD Roadshow.

Anyone wishing to help Kerry reach her target can donate draw prizes at Littleport Leisure Centre, or agree to sponsor by filling in a form at the centre.
