Beautiful floral displays judged across Ely for the 2018 In Bloom competition
It is hoped that a blooming success is on the horizon for Ely as judges of the popular gardening competition took to the city.
Dozens of floral displays can be seen dotted around the city for 2018’s Ely in Bloom.
The colours chosen for the hanging baskets and planters this year have been chosen to commemorate the hundred years to the end of the First World War.
The judges along with Councillor Alison Arnold were out in the sunshine on Friday July 20 to visit green-fingered shop proprietors, publicans and hoteliers.
There are also categories for volunteer’s flowerbeds, community sheltered housing gardens and religious building garden areas.
The Mayor will judge the winners of each category with the winners being announced on August 7.
Presentations are then set to be held.
The Ely in Bloom committee is a voluntary community group that is sponsored by the council and East Cambridgeshire District Council.
