THE pouring rain and wind didn’t deter Stretham residents from completing their Diamond Jubilee tree project in the run up to Christmas.
Started to mark the Queen’s 60 years on the throne, the project has seen yew, box, holly, maple trees and several other varieties of trees planted in the village’s cemetery and recreation ground.
On December 22, members of Stretham Parish Council and plenty of villagers braved the torrid weather to see an oak tree being planted by Andrew Fountain, on behalf of the council, to mark the end of the project.
