ORGANISERS of a new stage show based on the story of Frankenstein believe they have made history by staging the first musical live over the internet.

Joined at the Heart has a cast largely made up of actors from Ely and Witchford.

Performances started in Cambridge this week and the show will be taken to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

The musical is being performed in a theatre and streamed through broadband via the online virtual world of Second Life.

Comedian Jimmy Carr performed the first Second Life live comedy show and several rock bands have taken part in a virtual rock show.

Witchford composers Graham Brown and Geoff Meads have written the music and lyrics for Joined at the Heart.

Mr Meads said: "We've done extensive research and I'm quite certain that this is the first musical to ever be broadcast live over the internet.

"It's a really exciting project. It's been five years in the making and every minute has been challenging, but all of the hard work is now paying off."

Performances started at The Junction, Cambridge on Wednesday and will run to Saturday, August 4. Tickets are available by calling 01223 511511 or going to www.junction.co.uk

The show will then be performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival from August 12-18. Tickets are available by calling 08452 601234 or going on-line to www.cthefestival.com
