ISLEHAM is playing host to a series of after-dark, electricity-free events this weekend as part of a co-ordinated, worldwide switch-off.
A night walk along Isleham Wash is due to take place at 8.30pm on Saturday in the company of Jim Paice MP, and Labour MEP Richard Howitt will join the village's Christian Aid activists on Friday morning to cook breakfast without any electricity.
"Going for a night walk, having a meal by candle light - there are lots of fun things to do with the lights off!" joked Mr Howitt.
Jim Paice hammered home the seriousness of the message: "I am acutely aware of the threat posed to our way of life, our economy and both our local and global environment from climate change, and hope that Earth Hour will continue to keep the issue of climate change on the agenda."

A world-wide event organised by the WWF, Earth Hour aims to encourage a billion people to be aware of climate change by turning off their lights between 8.30 and 9.30pm. More than 74 countries and 2,700 cities, towns and villages have signed up and some of the world's most iconic landmarks are due to switch off their illuminations - the Parthenon in Athens, the Pyramids at Giza and even Big Ben will go over to the dark side this Saturday.
