GRATEFUL villagers put away hundreds of sausages, eggs and rashers of bacon last week to raise more than £1000 for Cancer Research UK.
Sisters-in-law Kate and Tracy Chambers organised "Britain's Biggest Breakfast" at Little Downham Village Hall for the charity.
Tracy manned the kitchen with a band of volunteers and made breakfast for some 300 people at £2 a head.
Kate said the event has run for a number of years.
"Cancer touches so many people's lives and we think it's a really good way to raise money," she said.
"The only problem is that everybody looks at you like you're mad when buy big packs of eggs and bacon at the supermarket."
Home-made cakes and teas in the afternoon pushed the total past £1000.
