ELY-based Shearline Precision Engineering has invested £40,000 to expand and enhance its assembly and finishing area.

The new facility features the latest electrostatic discharge (ESD) rated flooring and benches to eliminate any possibility of damage to sensitive electronic components during handling and assembly.

Shearline's assemblers will also benefit from a robust yet flexible layout based on Kaizen principles and designed to require minimal set-up and improve production flow.

Graham Smith, Shearline's managing director said: "Our philosophy has always been about achieving fast and efficient operation and turn-around times for our customers while maintaining the highest quality production standards. The new assembly and finishing area has enhanced this aspect of the operation by allowing us to work with full ESD capabilities to produce high quality components, manufactured and delivered to the tightest deadlines with the utmost efficiency.
