AN intrepid team from the Ely branch of The Cambridge Building Society took part in a special fundraising mission, helping to raise hundreds of pounds for Magpas.
At midday on Tuesday (March 26), the stop clock was set as the Ely team set off from the society’s central hub in Cambridge and were transported back to their branch in High Street.
The four-strong team were then challenged to make their way back to Cambridge before 4pm the same evening, relying solely on the generosity of the public for transport and trying raise as much money as they could en route.
Oliver Shearing from The Cambridge Building Society said: “We wanted to do something a bit different to support Magpas, our chosen charity for March. The society and its staff are known for helping out in the local community and with our new charity of the month structure, we are able to offer our support in many exciting ways.”
Antonia Brickell head of communications at Magpas, said: “We were really impressed! It was such a creative way to raise money and spread the word about our lifesaving partnership across Cambridge.”
