A SENIOR instructor at Mepal Outdoor Centre has been cleared of assaulting a 15-year-old girl during a paintballing game.

It was alleged that Daniel Twite severely bruised the teenager's leg by firing five shots at her from short range, to pay her back for shooting at him as he worked as a marshal.

But Ely magistrates were told that 24-year-old Twite had warned the group during a briefing session that they would be shot at, if they fired at a marshal during the event on August 25 last year.

Twite, of Stradsett, King's Lynn, denied firing five shots, and denied he was at very close range when he fired a couple of shots as two girls left a hut on the site during the game.

"The rules had been explained and I carried out the rules," he said. Everyone understood and no-one had absented themselves before the sessions started.
