SOHAM murderer Ian Huntley is at the centre of a row over sentencing that has seen the Lord Chancellor declare that the killer should die behind bars.

Lord Falconer of Thoroton made the comments in an interview with a national newspaper, days after the Lord Chief Justice said killers were serving too long in prison.

Lord Falconer said the public expects retribution in cases as serious as the murders of Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman in 2002, and that Huntley's release could result in people losing faith in the criminal justice system.
