AROUND 200 people gathered at the War Memorial in Ely on Wednesday to mark Armistice Day.
Ex-Servicemen joined members of the public at a service on Ely Market Place led by the Mayor of Ely Richard Hobbs, and his Chaplin David Pritchard.
Mayor Hobbs officially unveiled the memorial's new plaque, dedicated to the memory of those who have died in conflicts after 1945 and the new memorial was blessed by the Chaplin.
Prayers were read until 11am when the sounding of the cathedral bells marked the beginning of a two minutes silence. The last post was sounded by a lone trumpeter and the traditional poem was read by former president of the Royal British Legion John Grant.
