A TOTAL of 616.50 was raised on Sunday at the 128th annual Harvest Service held at The Little Chapel in The Fen at River Bank, near Upware.

Collections taken among the 100 attendees on the day saw 273.75 raised for Marie Curie Cancer Care and 342.75 for the chapel’s upkeep and on-going maintenance.

The service was conducted by Cecil Nash, of Swaffham Bulbeck. Readings were done by Mrs Jean Nash and Mr Peter Cockerton, of Little Thetford. The keyboard player was Mr Brian Mizon, of Cambridge, and announcements and notices were made and given by Mr Alan Wyatt, of Landbeach, and Mr Geoffrey Woollard, of River Bank, two of the chapel’s trustees.

Mr Woollard said: “The chapel was packed and the singing was superb. We were also blessed by lovely weather. The trustees are grateful to those who gave harvest produce and so much money so generously.”
