Hundreds of motorists face delays tonight as a serious accident continues to block the A142 at Mepal between Chatteris and Ely.
First reports talk of a multiple pile-up and there are also reports of two air ambulances landing to take care of some of the injured.
Road traffic organisations including Cambs Travel News are said the road is closed between Engine Bank and Mepal Long Highway.
“Delays in both directions due to an RTC, “they tweeted. “Tailbacks to Witcham Toll.”
Cambs Police are also urging drivers to find alternative routes and have given no information about what time the road might re-open.
