A TEENAGER visiting Ely from Poland crashed a car last Tuesday on the first time she drove in the city.
And on Thursday 18-year-old Karolina Symolon was banned from the road in the UK for the next six months.
The student admitted she had no insurance to drive the VW Polo when she collided with a Ford Transit tipper in Cambridge Road.
"In Poland if a car has insurance, it does not matter who drives it," she explained to Ely magistrates on Thursday. "I am on holiday; it was the first time I drove. I am looking after my sister's daughter."
Symolon, who is staying in Orchid Close in Ely, was fined £125 with £80 costs and a £15 surcharge.
