THE Ely Standard's Help Our Hospice Campaign has become an enormous success, and we have already received hundreds of signatures from people appealing to the Government to address the appalling shortfall in funding these much-needed facilities. Each week, we will keep you informed about fund-raising events and how you can get involved in helping our hospice.

OUR mobile phone campaign is gathering momentum every day - more than 100 old handsets have been handed in at the Ely Standard office already.

Each one of these phones will be recycled and is worth up to £5, allowing the EACH charity to convert the unwanted items into cash for the Milton Hospice.

You can now donate your old phones at the Cambridge Building Society in High Street, Ely, as well as at our Market Street office.

Branch supervisor Penny Tash said: "We like trying to help the community and we thought this was an easy way of doing it."

"Everybody has old mobile phones at home - we've had some dropped in already and people have said they'll bring their phones in the next time they visit.
