The young people of Highfield Academy, Ely joined PCSO Kat Deronal for a tour of the police station.

Highfield Academy is a school for children and young people with special educational needs and educates 140 pupils from early years to year 14.

The group had the opportunity to see the main crew room of the police station, inspect the interview facilities and the vehicles.

Miss Deronal, PCSO for Ely City, said: “It was lovely to welcome all of the young people into the station so that they can see what we do and where we work from.

“It’s incredibly important for us to build reassuring links with all sections of the community so that they can trust and rely on us if they ever need to.

“Highfields really does have a wonderful group of young students.”

In January, Highfields was awarded a grant of £10,000 to buy trampoline equipment thanks to a £10,000 grant from national charity the St James’s Place Foundation.
