A paramedic who organised a charity ball in Soham has now received another boost to her fund raising mission.

Hannah Schunmannh has been given a cheque from the Ely United Lodge of Instruction for £250.

She said: “It’s important that we highlight local charities supporting each other. The is another fabulous donation towards the £100,000 target to get an ambulance based in the UK.”

her charity ball earlier this year raised more than £4,000 for the Ambulance Wish Foundation, a charity that aims to fulfil the last wishes of terminally ill patients in their final days with volunteers and a private ambulance.

The foundation’s ambulances are designed to complement the care of terminal patients.

A spokesman said; “There are still too many patients who die without closure due to an un-achievable, but often very simple wish.

“One of the reasons that these patients cannot fulfil these final wishes is that they are no longer mobile (often bed bound) and are unable to travel and or require medical intervention and support.

“Examples of missions completed for patients include visits to the beach, the ability of the patient to attend a special occasion such as a family wedding or visiting a place that holds special memories. Often such simple wishes.

“The Ambulance Wish Foundation ensures that these final wishes can be met safely under the guidance of qualified ambulance personnel and in comfort with a purposely-adapted ambulance and stretcher.”

People can donate at Go Fund Me or donate £5 by texting AWUK to 70070.
