VOLUNTEERS offering practical help to elderly people have applied to help out at the Care Network organisation.
In fact, so many people have come forward that care officer Helen Randall is to set up a permanent scheme, Help at Home, which will start this autumn in Ely.
"It's a safe, publicly listed number and we will vet all of the volunteers," said Mrs Randall. "So many people want to help, they just needed a structure behind them.
"Our Welcome Home from Hospital scheme has been such a success that we created a permanent version of it."
