On Monday July 31 the Soham walkers were joined by the walkers from Ely, Sutton, Littleport and Haddenham. A total of 46 plus the two leaders enjoyed a two and half mile walk around Soham. Led by Liz Gwinnett with David Clark at the back, their walk this week took them from St Andrews Church through the church alley, down Clay Street to Mill Corner, along Mereside and through the passageway to West Drive Gardens, Berrycroft over Hall street to Foxwood South, Bushel Lane, Queensway, Stinky Ditch, Eastern Avenue, Brewhouse Lane, East Fen Road, along by Brook Dam river, past the duck pond and through Frank Bridges Close, Sand Street, Walter Gidney Lane, college complex, College Road, Clay street and Saucey Megs for the anniversary lunch. This week was a special week celebrating the Heartbeat Health walks third anniversary and the launch of the poetry booklet. Claire Mead who is the Healthy Lifestyle Co-ordinator thanked everyone for joining her and Katrina Maguire on this special day. Liz and David were presented with flowers thanking them for the work they do, and were told they have been nominated for the champion walk leaders award by Claire. Everyone was given a copy of the poetry booklet which was entered in a poetry competition as part of the Christmas celebrations in 2004 and 2005. They also received a certificate celebrating the third anniversary. Everyone enjoyed a buffet lunch followed by birthday cake which was cut by Liz and David.Thanks are extended to the Healthy Heartbeat team for organising the event.
