“They told me it would not hurt, but it hurt like hell,” joked 26-year-old Ben.

IT was a case of hair today and gone tomorrow when brave Ben Wicker agreed to be subjected to a body waxing at the Plough and Harrow pub in Littleport, raising almost 100 for the charity Cambridge Search and Rescue.

“They told me it would not hurt, but it hurt like hell,” joked 26-year-old Ben, after hair was removed from his chest, back, arms and legs.

Beautician Chellie Allen, who runs Chellies salon in the town, carried out the waxing treatment.

Cambridgeshire Search and Rescue (CamSAR) was founded in August 2006 to provide trained search and rescue technicians to Cambridgeshire Constabulary in the search and recovery of vulnerable missing persons. CamSAR also provides Category Two Response to the East of England Ambulance Service Trust, and Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service.

Pub landlady Beverly said: “CamSAR personnel train in Littleport, and often come in here on a Wednesday night. We wanted to raise some money for them, and we always have their charity box on the bar.”
