A kind-hearted four year old from Ely is hoping to raise more than £300 after having her hair chopped off for charity.
Amy Fisher’s hair had already grown to her elbows, so she decided to have it cut into a bob for primary school in September.
However, she nearly didn’t make it to the hairdresser’s in time for her appointment after a family holiday in Devon took a turn for the unexpected.
Amy’s granddad was taken to hospital after becoming ill, meaning the family had to extend their stay.
They decided to head home on the day of Amy’s appointment at Emma & Co Hair Design in Soham at 6.30pm.
“We slowly crawled round the M25 and I started to wonder if I needed to phone the hairdresser and cancel,” said mum Kerry.
“It was an extremely hot day and we’d been travelling for almost eight hours. We pulled out of our caravan storage yard in Burwell at 6.20pm.

“Ellie Denny had the very responsible task of cutting Amy’s long plaited hair off, nine inches in total. So a very big thank you to her.
“Amy walked out of the hairdressers with her very new bob cut and said to me “I’m feeling so happy” I said to her “yes I told you, it is a very lovely feeling we get when we help others.”
Amy’s hair was donated to The Little Princess Trust which makes wigs out of real hair for children who have hair loss as a result of cancer treatment or other illnesses.
Kerry continued: “Amy’s hair grows incredibly fast. She wanted to have a nice easy bob cut ready for going to Reception class at The Shade Primary School in September.
“I told her about the trust and what they could do with the hair that she was going to have cut off and how it could really help somebody else, and helping others is a really good thing to do.
“She said yes she definitely wanted to help someone that was poorly to have lovely hair like her.”
Amy’s story is called Amazing-Amy and she has a JustGiving page for donations to Little Princess Trust.
