Haddenham skate park is due for completion by November 2017.

East Cambs Council approved a new skate park at the recreation field in Hop Row, Haddenham.

The site is located next to an existing play area and tennis courts. The skate park is being built thanks to a grant of up to £50,000 from a WREN community funding pot.

It comes after the old skate park, which was built 14 years ago and was causing health and safety concerns, was removed in 2016.

The parish council says they are “very pleased to see this facility being replaced to a high standard – there is a clear desire from the community to have a skate park in the village”.

The skate park will be sunken into the ground, measure 18m in width and 31m in length and have a minimal visual impact.

It was agreed that the skate park is well located and accessible to local people (by foot and cycle), that it wouldn’t increase the amount of traffic or have a negative impact on the character of the village.
